Modern Bed Frames: The Difference Between Spring and Non-spring

A modern bed frame is very different than the box springs of yesteryear. This blog post will outline how each type works and what makes them different.

Non Spring Box Beds:

Non-spring box springs are metal frames with fabric stretched over it. The tension of the material provides support for your mattress, but there is no comfort or flexibility to them at all. These bed frames were popular in the 50s and 60s when mattresses needed more support due to their low-density foam cores. While mattresses have changed, this type of bed is still widely available.

Spring Box Beds:

A modern bed frame is all about the springs. They are made of steel coils that provide more support for your mattress but still give to them, so they do not feel too rigid. There are also different coil counts based on how dense you want your bed to be and what type of sleeping style you like.

There are also two types of Box Spring Bed {Boxspringbetten}, one that is attached to the non-spring bed frame and sits on top of it (usually platform), or one that goes directly under your mattress (slat). The first type provides excellent support for your mattress while still allowing airflow through the middle. This spring box bed also does not require a foundation for the mattress, making moving it around very easy.

Slat bed frames are also great because they do not take up extra space and look more modern than non-spring or platform-type box springs. However, you may need to purchase a separate wooden frame if your current one is not tall enough.

In conclusion, a modern bed frame is very different than the box springs of yesteryear. This blog post will outline how each type works and what makes them different and links to trusted sites that sell these great products at low prices.
